1. Who we are

MoveMapper Ltd runs movemapper.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. For anything about your data, email hello@movemapper.co.uk.

2. The short version

You build a Move Pack about your home. It is yours. Nothing in it goes to an estate agent, a conveyancer or anyone else until you press send, and you can see who has it. We do not sell your data, we do not pass it to advertisers, and nobody pays us to appear in front of you.

3. What we collect, and where it comes from

From you. Your name, email address and phone number when you sign up. Your property address. The answers you give about your home. Documents you upload, such as an energy certificate, title register, guarantees or planning paperwork. Which stage of your move you tell us you have reached.

From the public record, about your home. When you enter a postcode we look your home up in three public sources: the Energy Performance Certificate register (Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities), HM Land Registry Price Paid data, and Ordnance Survey address data. This gives us facts about the property, such as its type, energy rating, floor area, tenure and when it last sold. These are facts about a building, not about you, and nothing is saved against you until you create an account and choose that address. Anything we prefill from these sources is marked as such, and it counts for nothing until you have checked it.

About how the site is used. When someone enters a postcode on the homepage we record the postcode area (for example WA16), how many homes were shown, and the time. Not the full postcode, not the address, not who searched. We use this to see where people look and find nothing. We keep a record of actions on your account, such as when a section was completed or a pack was sent, so that your dashboard can show it.

If you are an estate agent or conveyancer. Your name, email, phone number, firm and branch, and the packs sellers have chosen to send you.

4. Why we use it, and the legal basis

To run your Move Pack and show it back to you: performing our contract with you. To send you the emails the service needs, such as your welcome email, telling you when your pack is ready to send, and a check-in every three months while your pack is open: also the contract. To send your pack to the agents or conveyancer you pick, when you pick them: your consent, given each time by pressing send. To look up your home in the public record before you sign up: our legitimate interest in showing you what the service does, using data about a building. To keep the service secure and to understand where people get stuck: our legitimate interest in running it properly.

We do not send marketing email. If that changes, we will ask first, and every such email will have an unsubscribe link.

5. Who sees your data

The agents and conveyancers you choose. When you send your pack to an estate agent, they receive your name, contact details, your property address and the contents of your pack, so they can arrive at a valuation knowing your home. The conveyancers page is a directory only; nothing is sent from it.

Our suppliers, who process data on our behalf. Supabase (database and document storage, hosted in the EU). Vercel (hosting). Resend (sending email). Google (the estate agent and conveyancer directories are built from Google Places; your postcode is sent to Google to find firms near you, nothing else). Ordnance Survey, HM Land Registry and the EPC register receive the postcode or address being looked up. Each supplier is bound by a contract to use the data only to provide their service to us. Where a supplier is outside the UK, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.

We do not share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

Your Move Pack, answers and documents are kept while your account is open and for two years after you last used it, then deleted. You can delete your pack yourself from your pack page at any time, which permanently removes your answers and documents, or email us and we will do it within 30 days. Records that a pack was sent to a particular agent are kept for six years, as they may be needed to resolve a dispute. Anonymous postcode-area lookups are kept indefinitely; they identify nobody.

7. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email hello@movemapper.co.uk and we will reply within 30 days. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, though that will not undo a pack you have already sent.

8. Cookies

We use one essential cookie, to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add any, we will ask before setting them.

9. Children

MoveMapper is for people selling a home and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data about children.

10. Public data attribution

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes

When this notice changes we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
